To reach the starting point for the San Luis Peak – South Ridge route, head 23 miles northwest on Highway 149 from South Fork until you reach Creede. Then turn right onto Bachelor Road and drive 6.3 miles on a dirt track to reach the Willow Creek Trailhead.

 

From the trailhead, the San Luis Peak – South Ridge route spans 5.3 miles to the peak’s summit. Starting at an elevation of 11474 feet, the route entails a 3445-foot elevation gain and a 978-foot loss. The peak’s summit is at an elevation of 14003 feet.
